AMAZON AND ETOYS CHEAT CUSTOMERS

Amazon and Etoys - the new bad Santa's
Beware of Amazon and etoys failure to deliver goods as promised. On 11/29 I ordered a number of toys and gadgets from Etoys via Amazon with original estimated delivery of 12/11. Not only did they not communicate with me about the delays in fulfilling my order, When they finally admitted to the delays I requested a cancellation as per their policy and now they are not allowing me to cancel the order. I have been in a battle with etoys and amazon because they have tied up my money and are trying to force me to accept a post Christmas delivery date for my son's and nephews toys.
I wonder what they expect me to tell my son, nephew and the other children I bought toys for on Christmas when there are no presents under the tree. Sorry, Santa wasn't able to deal with me honestly?
BTW, I'm not the only one having bad experiences with Amazon, blog bro Jon is also having a hassle of bait and swith policy with them.

I think there are two things at play here:
- In an effort to avoid outlaying more capital for stock, but still wanting to provide "everything", Amazon is hooking up with other retailers and those people can't meet the demands of the monster that Amazon has become.
which leads to:
- Amazon has become a monster. It can't match the expectations that have been set by it's previous success.

I've only had one less-than-perfect Amazon transaction. I ordered two books for my wife for Christmas, but when they arrived, only one of the books was correct. I had some trouble finding the customer service area on their website (they hide it pretty well), and when I emailed them what the problem was, they reshipped the order *and* sent the missing book seperately. So now I had the two books I wanted, plus another copy of each, plus another unordered book. I repacked them into an Amazon box and shipped 'em back.
Kind of a pain, but they made it right in the end. Luckily, even though they were Christmas presents, it was early enough that the time pressure didn't really apply.

I don't buy a lot of stuff online, so I've only used Amazon twice. Both times it wasn't bad, but I was also buying books in the middle of September.

I recently ordered a remote control car from Etoys.com. The add on their site said that all batteries and chargers were included. The box arrived with the batteries/charger missing. They were removed from the styrofoam packing and a sticker was placed on the box stating, "batteries not included". When I called to inquire about the missing batteries, I was told by a customer service representative that their site was incorrect and batteries were not to be included. She said that there was nothing they could do and referred me to their business policy section that apparently allows them to make changes. This hardly sounds legal. Certainly it is not good business practice. This same item is advertised by other companies at the same price and includes the batteries. This was truly a bait and switch situation.
